Dismantle – Enter the Forbidden – 2012

Enter the Forbidden

Enter the Forbidden is the second full-length album by Dismantle. I had to look that up of course since I never heard of the band before. But as you know, I find great joy in the process of discovery! I often go by the cover art and what looks cool, might also sound cool but that’s not a rule of course. But I choose a bit with my eyes. What pleases the eyes is what I choose to explore in the new world of streaming services. Dismantle, or at least the album Enter the forbidden, seems to nod a bit towards Slayer musically. It is a trio on this album at least and they all have cool (or silly) pseudonyms. That reminds me kind of about Venom. Musically it’s a lot like Slayer in my ear though. Especially the phrasing of the vocals. And since I’m a big fan of Slayer that can’t be a bad thing. I like this, but it would have needed some more production and… Well, I think that’s about it. Maybe I could wish for a better vocalist but I’m notoriously hard to please when it comes to singers. Only the cream of the crop ever pleases me. Music-wise it’s really good performed. I like the riffs and the guitar work, especially when played on earphones! The album cover reminds me of some albums by Death, and that’s always a good thing in my book!
