Last night I got the news about Michael Nyqvists passing away. I was shocked! I didn’t have a clue that he was sick or anything. When I read the papers today I learned that he kept his struggle with lung cancer a secret. Only a few of his closest friends and family knew that he had fought the decease for about a year.
To be honest I wasn’t a big fan. Not to say that I didn’t enjoy his movies. I did! He was a great actor and in recent years his Hollywood career started. My best memories of him is in the Swedish “millennium trilogy” though. He played a reporter that starts to investigate together with a tremendous hacker played by Noomi Rapace. These were great films and I think only of them made it to the Hollywood remake table – The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
Michael Nyqvist was 56. Rest in Peace!
