Carnival Diablos is the eighth studio album by Annihilator. There are a couple of songs on it that are more or less heaven sent. I really REALLY like the riff and structure in the opening track Denied. Another favorite is also Battered. It’s a very “hooky” song to my ears. there are other as well. It may not be an album as melodic as Set the World on Fire or King of the Kill but it’s a very stable effort.
Joe Comeau steps in as vocalist on Carnival Diablos releasing Jeff Waters himself from those duties. Jeff laid down the bass tracks on the album though. That shouldn’t surprise you. It’s unclear if he did all the guitars as well or if David Scott Davis played some guitar too. I’m pretty convinced that Jeff did most of it himself.
In either case this is an album where you recognize the Annihilator sound. The songs are not the strongest in the career of Jeff Waters all the way but most are really good! The drums were played by Ray Hartmann and it sounds pretty tight.
