Crazy Murder is an underground movie from 2014 that I was recommended to watch if I wanted something extreme. I sought it out and found it. Pretty soon I wished I hadn’t put in the effort. Crazy Murder might be extreme but it’s really not my cup of tea. Just because a film is extreme and over the top doesn’t make it an interesting watch for me. Well, that’s not entirely true. It’s always interesting to see and you educate yourself with films that you haven’t heard of, or use unconventional ways to tell the story.
In this case though, Crazy Kill is about this homeless guy wandering around the city for a year. We see him doing depraved things, among those things are unprovoked killings of other people. Even people who are trying to help him. He has no sense at all really. He seems to live in his own little world and nothing can interfere with his world views.
I soon started to think that Crazy Kill might be an inappropriate title, since the guy seems more insane than crazy to me. Maybe it’s me playing with the semantics but I think he’s so over the top that it’s hardly not crazy anymore. He’s deranged and in addition to killing he smear his own feces on his face and mutilates himself repeatedly in “reproductive areas”. There’s even coprophagia to some degree.
And that, in essence, might not be uninteresting but they have managed to make the main character so uninteresting that I don’t get his driving force. Why is he doing this? Of course, by claiming he’s crazy or insane I guess you could come away without such a motivation.
That doesn’t cut it for me though and I was more or less just waiting for the movie to end so I could end my misery. I hated this. It was just being discusting for the sake of being discusting.
