Garage Inc. came out in 1998. I wouldn’t consider it a “true” Metallica album as it’s only covers of songs that apparently mean something to the band. But since I included Undisputed Attitude by Slayer amount their albums I would like to do the same thing here.
I’m not saying that Garage Inc. is a bad album, because it’s not. The performing is good and the song are generally great in their original form. What I’m saying is that it’s not very exciting. It seems to be that Metallica had to put something out there at the time to stay relevant. They took the easy way out and recorded a bunch of covers.
So, I’m not impressed by Garage Inc. It’s not bad amd it’s not really good either. I can’t say anything negative on the performance of the songs. They often sound very like the originals though. And If there’s something I like when doing cover versions is making you own thing of it. I don’t think Metallica Succeded in that regard. We get a bunch of songs performed by the band and that’s it. No more, no less. Boring!
