Alone in the Dark 2 – 2008

First of all, we have to establish that this movie has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the movie titled Alone in the Dark from 2005. The things these movies have in common are that Uwe Boll is credited as the producer of this one and directed the previous one, that the cover images are fairly similar, and, of course, the title. However, this one is not about anything that even remotely resembles what the first one was about. It is not an action movie like the first film tried to be, but instead revolves around the occult.

Somewhere, sometime in the past, a witch managed to discover the secret of eternal life, and now people are running around because a mysterious dagger still contains her essence, or whatever you want to call it. I don’t think there is anything particularly wrong with the story itself, but it feels a little strange to make a sequel that is about something completely different, and if we are going to be completely honest, perhaps it is told in a somewhat confusing way. The actors aren’t anything special, but I can put up with them, and several of them have some kind of cult status today, Danny Trejo, Lance Henriksen, and Michael Paré, to name a few.
