Every Mother’s Nightmare – Backtraxx – 2001
Backtraxx is the forth album by American band Every Mother’s Nightmare. On Wikipedia they’re listed as a Glam Metal Band but I don’t think that is correct. At least not in the most conventional sense. I would place them, at lest on Back Traxx closer to hardrock than to Glam. Although I would ultimately place them under Heavy Metal.
There are some unusual instrumentation on Backtraxx though. I can’t say for sure because there are very spare information about them online. Or maybe I’m just notoriously bad at searching. But it sound’s to me that they’re using slide guitars, fiddle, and even banjo in their music. Not the most common instrument i Metal I would say.
The Music itself is now overly catchy as it could’ve been in true Hair Metal or Pop Metal. But itäs still stable and there’s definitely good melodies in there. So overall a very pleasant experience. Unusual instrumentation, serious musicianship and overall very good songs! It doesn’t really shine though in the music itself but I think there’s almost a little bit och punk attitude in there as well. It sounds very vital!
So, what to conclude of Backtraxx? Heavy Metal, but hardrock. Punkish attitude but blues shuffle feel. And with “country” instrumentation. It can’t go wrong!
