Welcoming Del Gibson!

I have been an independent critic for the last 25 years or so. There have been numerous outlets for me, but the common denominator is that I have almost always done it all alone. Sure, I’ve had guest reviewers over the years and they have contributed a few texts and reviews. My late wife also contributed many years ago but she soon lost interest when I changed the established direction of my sites and outlets.

I’ve also always felt the need to grammar- and spell-check guest reviewers. Especially in the old days when I did all my reviews in Swedish. Now that I’ve switched to English I’m quite a small fish in a big ocean and it would be presumptuous of me to claim that I know a language that is not my first better than those who have English as their mother tongue. But I guess I am, and probably always will be, a control freak.

But that’s not what I want to talk about now. A few months ago, I befriended another writer who, just like me, focuses on the stuff that usually doesn’t get much attention in the media. She does so even more than me, I would say. She writes about lots of independent stuff and with a level of analysis that really blew me away.

Since then, I’ve also read a couple of her anthologies, as she’s also a published author. I was very impressed by the presence in her writing and had the idea early on to try to convince her to write for me, or at least get her reviews published on ActiveContext.net as well. Now, several things happened in my personal life that prevented me from following through on that pursuit.

But now, I’m happy to say that the site will also publish reviews by the author and reviewer Del Gibson from New Zealand. This will add lots of independent value and will, of course also increase the diversity of the reviews found here.
