It was just a few weeks ago that I learned that actor Kiefer Sutherland also had a passion for music. I though to myself that I need to check this out, so I did. I didn’t even spend any time thinking about it.The right thing to do is just to jump right in there with the task. The first time i listened to I didn’t really know what to think. I thought the Kiefer voice wasn’t really adapted for singing. But now I’ve heard it a few times and realize quite the opposite. Kiefer Sutherland has a good personal voice which gives the music character.
Kiefer Sutherland has also co-written all of the songs on the album with Jude Cole who also produced it. I don’t know much about this collaboration, who was the driving part. But the result are quite nice. If it should be called Country och Country-Rock could be debated of course. But I see no point in going there.
The lyrics are on the darker side. Well, what can you expect from an album called Down in Hole and tracks like Not Enough Whiskey. But that also give the album credibility as something genuine. Something you can believe it. I feel deep down that these lyrics are personal for Kiefer and that they may have roots in his personal life.
