The cameras are rolling on WHISPERS: REAWAKENING, the latest installment in Miroslav Petkov’s independent horror universe, introducing a new story of murder, supernatural abilities, and a fanatical cult seeking to awaken an ancient force.
Filming has officially commenced on WHISPERS: REAWAKENING, expanding the world of WHISPERS with a new ensemble of characters and a dark mystery at the heart of its story.
The film follows an army veteran gifted with clairvoyant abilities who is called upon to investigate a brutal murder. What initially appears to be a disturbing case soon develops into a race against time, as she uncovers a fanatical cult determined to resurrect a century-old entity known only as Elara. As the investigation deepens, the boundaries between the living and the supernatural begin to blur, threatening to unleash something that should have remained forgotten.
Directed by Miroslav Petkov, WHISPERS: REAWAKENING brings together an international ensemble of performers, with Ines Angelova taking on the role of Alice. Joining her are Yana Kamenova as Amanda, Yana Ilieva as Sam, Channi Bui as Himari, Debora Zhecheva as Celeste, Borislav Popov as Basil, Atanas Kozhuharov as Oliver, Dyako Petranov as Zorg, and Yulian Nankov as Zephyr.
The screenplay is written by Philip Brocklehurst, Muhammad Holmatov, Denis Metev, and Miroslav Petkov, with Brocklehurst and Petkov also credited for the story. The film is based on characters created by Teddy Nikolova and Miroslav Petkov.
Petkov serves as director, while Denis Metev takes on the role of assistant director, contributing to the production as the project moves into principal photography.
With its combination of investigative suspense, supernatural horror, and the threat of an ancient entity returning to the world, WHISPERS: REAWAKENING promises a new chapter in the franchise’s mythology. At the center of the story is Alice (Ines Angelova), whose extraordinary abilities may be essential to uncovering the truth – but whether she can stop Elara’s awakening before time runs out remains to be seen.
As production gets underway, further details about the film’s development and release plans are expected to follow.
The mystery is beginning to unfold, and this time, something ancient is waiting to return.
I look forward to see this new movie and part of the overall story. I’m curious about if we finally get any answers or if we’re rewarded with even more questions and mysterious clues. That is kind of the point of these films. There’s no truth, just theories that happens to fit the facts, and once you think you know something, moment later we learn something new to question aqnd try to wrap our heads around. Part of me is hoping for those answers and another part of me wants to keep on guessing and theorizing about what’s really going on. You can fins reviews of the previous films below.
The Whisper starts out with this woman in the forest. Suddenly she sees a strange symbol on a tree. Of course, she gets curious and walks out to it to have a closer look. At the root of the tree there’s a notebook. She picks it up and suddenly she kind of hear whispering voices, or at least we do. We also get a glimpse of what the journal says. Someone has investigated this symbol before she got into the picture. A cult is mentioned and the journal explicitly tells that everyone who has come close to RUN! Read more
The Whisper 2 doesn’t really have a lot in common with the first short film. Or maybe it has? There are the same kind of mysterious markings on trees. and also a place where people disappear. This production is bigger, there are more actors and a more thought through plot. That’s not necessarily a good thing. Sometimes when you get too much information the mystique is spoiled. Read more
Whispers is the third movie, if you count the two shorts from the previous years, that explores mysterious disappearances and strange markings on trees where people apparently get teleported to an abandoned building where strange things happen. Wow! That was a long sentence! I think you clearly benefit from having the previous two shorts in your consciousness. It might not be essential but I think it brings an extra dimension of understanding to the story. Read more
