Carcass – Surgical Steel – 2013

Surgical Steel is the sixth album from British metal act Carcass. I guess this should be classified as Death Metal. At least if you go solely on the vocals. There’s definitely death growls there. But not so deep guttural that it’s impossible to hear any of the lyrics. Not that I really took my time to listen very careful to the lyrics anyway. But that was more in the lines of that it wasn’t interesting enough.

I don’t know how you work, but I usually need some line that speaks to me before Iäll take the time to really listen in to the lyrics. Apart from teh lyrics, the Death Metal elements of Surgical Steel is pretty tame. Not that all Death Metal needs to be superfast to work but I feel like the passages and riffs are even slower than many regular Heavy Metal Bands. They could even compete with some Doom Metal bands.

But it sounds pretty good too. Nothing to really write home about but certainly an album I’m glad I took the time listening to.
