Trick or Treat – Ghosted – 2025
Ghosted is the eighth studio album from Italian Power Metal band Trick or Treat. To be completely honest with you, I thought it was some kind of joke, or temporary collaboration to explore the Halloween theme. But I soon became aware that it’s really a band and that many of their album titles have something to do with the sinister side—title-wise, I mean. I haven’t heard any of those albums though; Ghosted is my first acquaintance with Trick or Treat.
It takes a couple of songs before it’s obvious that it’s Power Metal. Sure, there are lyrics about fantasy, as is usually the case in Power Metal. But no dragons and rainbows. I guess that’s my prejudice speaking. Just because something is typical for a certain style of music doesn’t mean that everybody needs to use the same formula.
The sound is purely Power Metal though—everything from the fast guitars to the high-pitched singing. I like the sound but I don’t really find the songs catchy enough for me. They’re good songs, no doubt, but they just don’t speak that much to me. All in all, Ghosted is a pretty typical album that really doesn’t stand out in any way.
