When a film passes the criteria for a trilogy and becomes four connected movies you realize that the story is quite long. I’m not sure if The Hunger Games should be considered four different movies though. The story spans over all four parts and it’s not only connected by the theme. The story itself is dived through four films. The last two are even connected by name Mockingjay part 1 & 2. I think these could be considered one movie. The thing is that the viewing time would be too long, hence it was needed to be split.
This first part takes its beginning in district 13 and we get to familiarize ourself with the resistance. We can also call it the rebels. It’s basically the same thing. everyone that isn’t with president snow is against him or what the capitol stands for. Mockingjay part 1 takes os to the beginning of a true civil war. Katniss role in it is to become the Mockingjay. She’s to be the face of the revolution that all other follow. She needs to inspire and get the people’s support.
Mockingjay part 1 has less action than the previous two parts and I think it partly can be considered transport to the final part. There’s not so much “game” in this one. At least not in the same sense as before. There are more politics, which of course is a game in itself.
I think that this isn’t up to par with the earlier parts bu still worth the effort to watch.
