Crematory – Destination – 2025

Destination

Destination is the gazillionth album by the German metal band Crematory. Why haven’t I heard them before? This is right up my alley! I’m not sure how to describe the music, but there’s definitely a mix of growling and clean vocals. The guitars are heavy, but still there is something mysterious over it. Something almost gothic. So I guess you could use the term Gothic Metal when describing Crematory.

It’s a sound where background keyboards have a big impact on the overall atmosphere. Maybe that’s what gives the album Destination its mysterious feel. It’s melodic and heavy, but never too heavy or so melodic that it falls into the Pop Metal genre. It balances on the edge. Great orchestration and arrangements which sound fresh and interesting.

As it is a German band, I can hear some German vocals in there. But it’s just for a song or two; the rest of the songs are in English. For me, that is a plus. I hate it when I know the lyrics are interesting but I still cannot understand them, like Rammstein. But not here. Almost all the lyrics are quite understandable. Even the growling vocals are pretty easy to distinguish.
